Successively attracted from his youth by the Impressionists, then by artists from the « Outsider art » like those belonging to the Cobra Movement, J.F. Guelfi remains quite keen on canvas painting . Acrylics allow him to freely express himself on his favourite subject  namely the choice and arrangement of colours.

This choice can come from pure chance, through a third party or some book he's read ( the colours quoted by the authors) or even from the work of other artists.

The colours are dispatched on the canvas in a very dynamical way, either through a preset process or widely leaving chance decide, using brushes, sponge or metal bars.

Getting an aesthetic and emotional result is all that does matter. 

GUELFI

Born in 1942, Jean-François Guelfi lives and works nearby Toulouse (France).

he has been entirely dedicated to abstract paintings for the last ten years.
